Ground control to major TomGround control to major Tom
Take your protein pills and put your helmet on
Ground control to major Tom
Commencing countdown, engines on
Check ignition and may God's love be with you

This is ground control to major Tom
You've really made the grade
And the papers want to know whose shirts you wear
Now it's time to leave the capsule if you dare

This is major Tom to ground control
I'm stepping through the door
And I'm floating in a most peculiar way
And the stars look different today

For here
And I'm sitting in a tin can
Far above the world
Planet earth is blue
And there's nothing I can do

Though I'm past one hundred thousand miles
I'm feeling very scared
And I think my spaceship knows which way to go
Tell my wife I love her very much she knows

Ground control to major Tom
Your circuit's dead, there's something wrong
Can you hear me major Tom?
Can you hear me major Tom?
Can you hear me major Tom?

Can you...

Here, am I floating round my tin can?
Far above the moon
Planet earth is blue
And there's nothing I can do

What's the best music for outer space? Eno, Major Tom, Also Sprach Zarathrustra? These images made me think of the all those and a lot more. Probably Space Oddity first, though, that's why I went to the trouble of reprinting the lyrics.

What music do you hear when you think of space?

I thought you'd at least appreciate the quality of the photo's. They're very high def (just click on one to enlarge, you'll see); and the image, to me, makes the Earth look like a place worth saving.

As for the text, you're absolutely right. My excuse, it's a 'work in progress.'

Ok, I got rid of that lame Star Trek intro and replaced it with some Bowie lyrics and, I hope, my original inspiration for posting the photos: the idea that space and music go together. I know, I know, for many people, space will forever be soundless and sterile; but not for me.
